Day 205 (Thursday 2/06) - Cairns Tropical Zoo

Wake up at 8:30am.

With Tobi, we head out to the bus stop, to get to the Cairns Tropical Zoo.

The zoo is ~20km out of the city (close to Palm Cove where I went last week with Giulia).
It's not that big, but is quite good.

There are the usual kangaroos, koalas, reptiles, birds, etc.
It's very similar to the sanctuaries in Brisbane and in Sydney (which is a good thing, as they're really good).

So I don't really see anything new, but I always like to see these animals (even if it's not in the wild, at least you get to see them close).

There's a whole set of shows/presentations during the day, that we try as much as possible to assist.

There's one about the endangered exotic species (Lemurs and Red Panda), one about snakes, one on crocodiles, one with the birds (pretty interesting, with owls, eagles, and more "original" birds), etc.

Most of them are really good, even though some animals are really too lazy and don't want to do anything today (mostly the crocodiles, and some birds).

There's also a presentation on the koala and the wombat (wich are the closest related marsupials).

Once again, I took the opportunity to cuddle the koala ... I still enjoy it as the first time (they're so soft, I love them ;-) ).

We spend most of the day there.

We then get back to Cairns, back to the hostel for a few hours, before going out to eat something.

For dinner, we're having crocodile meat (cooked with mangoes, vegetables, and spices, served with jasmine rice, in a "popadum" like crust ... oolala).
It's delicious.
For dessert, we have a Crème Caramel.
Really good meal.

After that we go for a short walk around the esplanade.

We then go back to the hostel and chill in the room (sharing pictures and movies).
There's also the French guy in the room, we talk about holidays, beaches, and mountains ...

We go to sleep quite early.
