Day 172 (Saturday 30/04) - Rainy Adelaide ... - (no photos)

Today it's raining ...
I go for my usual jogging (a bit shorter today, as the rain is really strong and annoying ...).

I then go to the market once again to buy some fruits, vegetables, and fresh salami ...

While eating, Toni joins me at the table.

After a while, he leaves, and Margot comes in and joins me.
She also went to the market, and got a baguette with camembert ... (Sacrebleu! Hehehe)
We talk about many things.
She's from Normandie, and studying medical engineering as an exchange student in Brisbane, and is here on holidays for a few days.

I spend the rest of the afternoon in the common area, on my computer.
Not much else to do, as it's still not very attractive outside (not raining, but very cloudy).

In the evening, I meet Margot, Stacey and Megumi, to go out to eat.
We go in a Chinese restaurant (not a snack this time, but a real restaurant).
We take different dishes that we share. It's really good.
We talk about many things, and mainly about Asia, as Megumi and Stacey have lived for a while in Japan, and Margot has lived for 5 years in China.
It's really interesting.

After the restaurant we go for an ice cream nearby. They have some amazing flavours such as "Tiramisu", "Chocolate Sorbet", "Roasted Almonds", etc.
Nice.

We then go back to the hostel for a tea, and spend a while talking.

We then all go to sleep quite early (all tired, and Margot has an early bus to catch tomorow).

Day 171 (Friday 29/04) - Cloudy Adelaide ... - (no photos)

It's cloudy today.

I wake up early enough to get the free pancakes.
Chris is making them.
As he gives me a small one, he immediately gives me a second one :-)

I then go for the usual jogging.

During the rest of the day I don't do much, mainly chillout on my computer (some Internet, watching some series episodes, playing games, etc.)

In the end of the afternoon, I go to China Town with Jodie, Margot (France), Stacey (USA) and Megumi (Korea).

After a tour of the area and the market, we go to the food court to get something to eat.
I go for a chicken curry for 2$ ... Really good, really cheap.

After that, we go back to the hostel for a cup of tea and chat.

When going to my room, I meet a new roommate, from Korea, he's really cool.
He's ending his 1 year world tour trip (he spent 4 months in Europe, and loved Belgium : beautiful cities, and great beer festivals).
We talk a bit about evertyhing, then go to sleep.

Day 170 (Thursday 28/04) - Adelaide - (no photos)

As the previous days : sun and jogging.
(during the day there will be some very small clouds)

I then go to the Central Market and buy some fruits and vegetables.

In the afternoon I go in the main shopping street, Rundle St, and go in many different shops (I'm trying to find a necklace ... I had found one that I really liked, but lost it in Melbourne a while ago - and I can't find it anymore ...).

When going back to the hostel, I see Jodie in the kitchen (the one from NZ I saw again in Melbourne).

She just came back from a tour to Alice Srpings, Ayers Rock, etc. It was apparently really good.

She introduces me to some people she met during her tour, we talk for a bit.

They're going out to eat something, I don't (already have something, and want to save money).

Later on, still in the kitchen, I see Toni, that was in my room the last night in Melbourne !
He decided to come to Adelaide, and ends up in the same hostel ... It's not even surprising anymore ... :-)

We talk a bit, but he also has to go out to eat, as he just arrived and hasn't anything to eat.
We'll catch up later on anyway.

After eating, I go to my room, where a new guy checked in. He's from Germany.
Thomas is also there. We talk about many things, and exchange some movies.
We all go to bed quite early.

Day 169 (Wednesday 27/04) - Adelaide

Again, perfect blue sky.
Again, jogging.

In the afternoon I go to the Art Gallery in the North Terrace precinct (where most of the cultural things are).

There's some Aboriginal art, but nothing really special (it's contemporary art, but looks like old art).

There's also some art from the rest of the world, and the most interesting things are as usual the Asian parts.

After that I go again to the Botanic Gardens, in the Herb Garden again.

the only animal I will see in ADL ... (oh, as well as a cockroach)

In the evening, with some of the hostel, we go to a nearby pub where they have cheap pizzas (good size, and good taste).

I sit at a table with Thomas, Stephanie and Tristan (a French couple), Chris, from London, and an Indian who's been living in Oz for 2 years.

They're all really cool, we talk about many things (they're all planning to go to NZ, so we talk quite a lot about it).
With Chris, we also talk a lot about animals and places to see.

Day 168 (Tuesday 26/04) - Adelaide

Blue sky, the sun is shining ...
I go for my usual jogging.

In the afternoon, I walk around the city, and in a few parks.

Today, most of the shops are opened, the city is much more alive.

I also go again to the Botanic Gardens, in the Centennial Conservatory, which holds a tropical rainforest.
It's quite warm and wet, but it's really nice and beautiful.

In the end of the afternoon, with Thomas we go to the movies, to see Thor (the lasr Marvel adaptation).

It's in 3D, and the venue is really good (big screen, good image and sound, and comfy seats).
The movie in itself isn't bad at all, I wasn't expecting much, but was quite satisfied (it's not a great movie, but it's good).

After the movie we go back to the hostel, and don't do anything special.

Day 167 (Monday 25/04) - Adelaide : ANZAC Day + Easter Monday

Again, today the sun is shining ...

I go for my jogging (same path as yesterday).

Later in the day, I go to the South Australia Museum.

The museum is free, and pretty good.
It's of course not as big as the Melbourne museum, but covers more or less the same subjects.

There's a nice room with minerals and different rocks and their evolution.

But most of all, the museum holds the biggest collection of Aboriginal objects in Australia (and in the world).
There are 2 levels full of objects like weapons, tools, clothes, ornaments, etc.
It's really nice.

Another amazing room (which I personally found even better), holds an incredible collection of Pacific cultures objects.
We can find loads of things from Papua New Guinea, Fiji Islands, Salomon Islands, etc.
It's really impressive, and so beautiful ... (I prefer by far these objects than the more primitive Aboriginal ones)

After the museum, I go again to the Botanic Gardens, and this time go into the Herb Garden, which of course smells really good ... (I love these herb gardens, I could stay there all day)

In the evening, I go out with some guys from the hostel (Thomas, Hugo from Amsterdam, Tom from Ontario and Nick from Sydney).

We first go to the Grace Emily's, the closest pub from the hostel, but don't stay for long as it's not that good.

We then go to find another place, but most are closed or empty (Australians don't party when on holidays ... Weird)

We end up by going to the casino, to see how it is (first one I go in Australia).
Thomas and I don't play anything, and leave pretty quickly (the others are not sure, and in the end Tom will play poker).

We go back at the hostel, and I go for a bit of Internet before going to sleep.
