Day 157 (Friday 15/04)

Wake up at 2:50am ...
Quick shower and last packings.

I quickly pass in front of the reception with my bags without saying anything (luckily nobody is watching).
I then wait for Charlotte to check-out and to join me outside.

Meanwhile, I see Sarah coming back to the hostel to go to sleep (she's tired, and didn't wait for the others).
She's sad she also has to leave NZ today, to go back home (in Switzerland).
As Charlotte comes out we kiss her goodbye.

While walking to the airport shuttle's stop, we meet the others that are on their way back to the hostel.
They stay with us to wait for the shuttle, which gets there in less than 5 minutes.
We say goodbye to everybody and get into the shuttle.

It takes around 30 minutes to get to the airport.

Everything goes without any problems (timing, check-in, luggages checks, etc.).

As we checked in together, we are seated next to each other in the plane.
We didn't choose where to sit, but we end up at the best place in the plane : in one of the rows with emergency door, which are much larger than the others, so we have loads of space for our legs.

The flight lasts for 3h40, there's not much to say about it (good weather, good landing ...).

As usual in NZ and Oz, we have to fill in a form asking some details about us (contact details, questions on what we're carrying, where we're staying, how long, etc.).

We get out of the plane to get our luggages back, and to go to the security checks and immigration control, which we get through without any problems.

We then get out of the airport, and wait for the shuttle to the city centre (Southern Cross Station).

Once in the city, we leave our luggages in a locker at the station (as we don't know where we will stay yet - waiting for some news from the others).

We then go for a walk in the centre, it's nice to be back here, I almost feel like home ...
We go in different streets, showing to each other the different places we know.

As I don't have a phone anymore, I need to buy one, so we go to a Vodaphone shop.
When asking to see the cheapest one, the seller tells me they have a special offer : a 29$ phone, with a 29$ recharge.
The phone has a touchpad and is pretty good (for this price !), and the 29$ recharge gives me 350$ credit as well as 500MB of Internet ... (nice!)

Charlotte brings me to a really nice street, very tight, full of bars and restaurants, with a really good athmosphere.
We sit at one terrasse to have a drink while waiting for some news.

She receives a message from Jodie (that we also met in NZ, and we knew she was also in Melbourne) ; we decide to meet at Federation Square.
Charlotte also tells a friend of her (from her uni) that just arrived in Melbourne to also join us there.
She's German, but speaks Dutch with Charlotte (a bit weird).

We go to Federation Square, take seat at a terrasse, and talk about many things.

After a while, we see Andreas and Hellen walking by, we intercept them, and they join us at our table.
(we've tried to reach him, but without result - so we're lucky to have seen him)

A bit later, we decide to move, to go to eat something.
Andreas and Hellen already have eaten, and decide to go back to their hostel at St Kilda.
With Charlotte, Jodie and the German girl (forgot her name ...) we go to the Melbourne Central Mall for a Chinese.

After that, Jodie leaves us (she has to see someone for some couhsurfing), and we go back to the station to get our luggages.

We then head to St Kilda, to the Ritz Backpackers where the others are staying (Charlie has booked some beds for us).

The hostel is really good, very good athmosphere.
We check in a 5 beds dorm, staying with Charlotte, Charlie, and Amber, a really nice Canadian girl.

Tonight is free BBQ at the hostel, so no need to go out to buy some food :-)

Some people of the hostel are going out to the nearby bars, we decide to join them.
After a while, we all move to Chapel Street to go to a club. We take a while to find it, and finally decide not to go and to get back to the hostel and go to sleep.
